MySQL Can’t open file (error 126)

Today we had this error:

Can’t open file: ‘wp_comments.MYI’. (errno: 126)

Nothing seemed to work as far as repairing goes, so I dropped the table. That means we lose all comments. It’s terrible, but I don’t know what else could be done. If anyone has a fix for this, let me know.

I might have a backup somewhere that I’ll use to restore this table someday.

I upgraded to the latest version of WordPress, which seems to have recreated the table. This is as much to test comments as it is to post this update, so let’s see if this works. If it does, please leave your own comment!

My comments file is giving this same error. I don’t have a recent backup - does that mean i’m going to lose all of the comments? That in itself is annoying, but what was the cause of this error in the first place??
