The End of Google: Answers.com?

Evolving Trends has posted a popular article called Wikipedia 3.0: The End of Google?

Here are some key points:

  • The Semantic Web is Web 3.0 and it promises to organize the world’s information in a better way than Google does
  • Info agents will form a collective “mind” that becomes the Ultimate Answer Machine, rendering Google obsolete
  • The emergence of Wikipedia that is built on the Semantic Web model will be the end of Google as the Ultimate Answer Machine
  • “Wikimind” will not be simply a search engine, but a true Global Brain covering all domains of human knowledge, that can reason and deduce answers

That’s about it. One glaring omission, in my opinion, is Answers.com. Clearly, they strive to be an Answer Machine, and it’s working well enough. Notably, their primary source of info is Wikipedia, but they also take information from other sources and put it all together.
