Google SketchUp Annoys with “Free”

Google today released a free version of SketchUp, the 3D modeling software whose parent company Google purchased a few months ago. When they SketchUp was first bought, I tried the Pro software. It has a free trial, so you can try it out and see what you think. But it cost money to use it forever. Now, Google is bringing 3D modeling to the masses with Google SketchUp (free).

I do find it to be rather annoying that every single time they have the product’s name on their website, it is followed by “(free)”. We got it the first time. What’s the big deal? Yeah, free software is great. But people are still going to buy it, and free users don’t need to be told again and again that it’s free. Though I guess it helps to make the “freeness” stick in your mind.
