Google Calendar is Fast, Global, Alive and Open
They’re basing the new service on four key features:
- Fast and easy
- See calendars from friends and family
- Invitations and reminders
- Supports the iCal standard to integrate with all calendar applications
Update: I’ve put my final examinations schedule into Google Calendar. Initial thoughts? I’m impressed. It’s pretty smooth and slick. The interface is easy and straightforward. Most impressive, you can drag across timeslots to set events that are varying durations, in half-hour time increments. Plus, you can easily print out your schedule, and it comes out looking reasonable enough to use on a regular basis.
April 15, 2006: Whoa! I’m really impressed. I entered a new event with the description: “Student proposals due by 17.00 Pacific Standard Time” and I was expecting just to have it apply to that day in general. But Google Calendar automatically detected the time, 5:00 PM, and inserted the event at the right time.
